Foster Care
Nebraska's child welfare workers are severely overworked, but it's the children who need help that pay the biggest price.
Taking care of all Nebraska's children transcends petty politics. We need a solution that reaches beyond politics to help those who are most helpless. The only solution to our strained system is to hire more child welfare workers and make sure their department has the money, time and training to do the job right. As governor, I will also create a full time executive child welfare advocate who answers directly to me.
I am the only candidate endorsed by the Nebraska chapter of the National Association of Social Workers in the 2006 governor's election.
